Quick Answer: Open the Facebook video, copy its link, then paste it into GetFVid. Choose HD or SD, tap Download. Done — no app install, no account needed.
The Problem with Downloading Facebook Videos on Android
Facebook doesn't include a download button. Not in the app. Not in the mobile browser.
That's intentional — Facebook wants you to watch videos on Facebook, not save them elsewhere.
But there are completely legitimate reasons you'd want to save a video:
- No internet later (flight, commute, travel)
- You want to share it somewhere that doesn't support Facebook links
- It's your video and you want a local backup
The good news: you don't need a sketchy app to do it.
The Safest Method: Use a Browser-Based Downloader
The cleanest way to download Facebook videos on Android is through your browser — no installation required.
We tested this on Chrome, Samsung Browser, and Firefox on Android in March 2026. All three work fine.
Step 1: Get the Facebook video link
In the Facebook app:
- Open the video
- Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) in the top right
- Tap Copy link
In a mobile browser:
- Open the video page
- Copy the URL from the address bar
That's your video link. Now you need to download it.
Step 2: Paste the link into GetFVid
- Open https://getfvid.io in your browser
- Tap the input box
- Paste the link (long press → Paste)
- Tap Download
Step 3: Choose your quality and save
GetFVid will show you the available formats. Usually:
| Option | What it means |
|---|---|
| HD | 720p or 1080p — best quality |
| SD | 480p — smaller file, faster download |
Tap your preferred quality → the video will either automatically download or open in a new tab.
If the video opens in a new tab: long press on the video → tap Save video or Download video.
The file saves to your Downloads folder (check your Files or My Files app).
Why You Shouldn't Use a Random Android App for This
There are hundreds of "Facebook video downloader" apps on third-party app stores and even on the Play Store.
Most of them are fine. Some of them aren't.
The real issue is that you don't need them. A browser tool like GetFVid does the same thing without:
- Requesting storage, camera, or contact permissions
- Showing intrusive ads
- Running in the background and draining battery
- Collecting data beyond what's necessary
If you're downloading videos occasionally — just use a browser. If you download dozens a day, an app might genuinely be more convenient. But for most people, the browser method is all you need.
Troubleshooting: When the Download Doesn't Work
"I can't find the Copy link option"
Make sure you're on a video post, not a story or a reel. For Facebook Reels, the link format is different — see our Facebook Reels downloader guide.
"GetFVid says it can't download the video"
Two likely reasons:
-
The video is private. If the video is inside a private group or a friend-only post, standard tools can't access it. You'll need a private Facebook video downloader that uses a different method.
-
The link is wrong. Not every URL you copy from Facebook is a direct video link. Make sure you're copying from the video itself, not a profile page or feed URL.
"The download starts but nothing saves to my phone"
This is usually a browser permission issue. Go to: Chrome → Settings → Site settings → Automatic downloads → allow downloads from getfvid.io.
Or just long press the video when it opens and tap Download.
"There's no HD option"
That means Facebook doesn't have an HD version stored — not a bug. If the video was originally uploaded in low quality, HD simply isn't available. We don't re-encode anything; we only offer what Facebook has.
Device-Specific Notes
Samsung phones (One UI)
Samsung Browser works slightly differently — downloads go to your Samsung Internet downloads folder, accessible in the Samsung MyFiles app under Downloads.
MIUI / Xiaomi phones
MIUI sometimes blocks automatic downloads. If nothing happens when you tap Download, go to Chrome → Settings → Downloads and check the download location is set.
Older Android (Android 9 or below)
The process is the same, but the video might open in a new browser tab instead of downloading automatically. Long press → Save video.
Quick FAQ
Can I download Facebook videos on Android for free?
Yes. GetFVid is completely free. No account, no paywall, no watermark on the downloaded video.
Will the downloaded video have Facebook's watermark?
No. The video downloads as its original file — no watermarks added.
Can I download Facebook Reels on Android the same way?
The method is similar, but Reels links look different. Use the Facebook Reels downloader if the standard method doesn't work for your Reel.
Is it legal to download Facebook videos?
Downloading public videos that you have access to is generally fine for personal use. Republishing someone else's content without permission is where you'd run into copyright issues. If you're downloading your own videos — no issue at all.
Does GetFVid store my videos or links?
No. GetFVid processes your link to extract the download URL and returns it to you. Nothing is stored on our end.
