What is GetFVid?

GetFVid is a web-based tool for downloading Facebook videos. You paste a link, we extract the available download options, and you save the file you want.

It works with public Facebook Videos, Reels, and Watch content. If the original video was uploaded in HD or 4K, those options will appear in the results. Quality depends entirely on the source — we don't alter or compress anything.

There's no account required, no login, and nothing to install. The tool runs in your browser and files go directly to your device. We don't store your videos or your links.

What kinds of Facebook videos can you download?

GetFVid works with most publicly available Facebook video content. Here's what typically works:

  • Facebook Videos — regular videos posted on personal profiles and pages
  • Facebook Reels — short-form vertical videos, similar to other short video formats
  • Facebook Watch — videos published through the Watch tab

Private videos — those set to Friends only or Only me — are not accessible through this tool. For those, you can try our Private Video Downloader, which uses a different method.

Live videos that are still broadcasting may not be available for download. Once a live stream ends and Facebook processes the recording, it typically becomes downloadable.

Facebook video quality explained

The quality of a downloaded Facebook video depends on the original upload. Facebook processes and compresses videos when they're uploaded, so the maximum available quality is set at that point.

When you paste a link into GetFVid, we look up what formats Facebook makes available for that video. You'll typically see:

  • HD (720p / 1080p) — higher resolution, larger file size. Available when the original was uploaded in good quality.
  • 2K / 4K — available for select videos uploaded in very high resolution, such as those shot on newer phones.
  • SD — standard definition, smaller file. Usually available for all videos.
  • Audio only — MP3 format, just the audio track.

Keep in mind: if a video was uploaded at low quality, we can't improve it. What you see in the results is what Facebook has available.

Downloading Facebook videos on iPhone and Android

GetFVid works in mobile browsers. The process is the same — copy the link from Facebook, paste it here, and tap Download.

On iPhone (iOS): After tapping Download, Safari will ask what to do with the file. Choose Download Linked File. The video will appear in Safari's downloads (the arrow icon in the toolbar) and in your Files app. To move it to your Photos app, open the file in Files and tap the share icon, then Save Video.

On Android: The file will download through Chrome or your default browser and appear in your Downloads folder. From there you can move it to your gallery or play it directly.

Some browsers handle downloads differently. If your browser opens the video instead of downloading it, tap and hold the video, then choose Save video or Download video.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download private Facebook videos?

This tool only works with publicly accessible videos. If a video is set to Friends only or Only me, it won't work here. For private videos, try our Private Video Downloader, which uses the view-source method instead.

Why isn't my Facebook link working?

A few things can cause this: the video might be private or restricted, the link might be incomplete, or Facebook may have changed how that content is shared. Try copying the link again directly from the video or post page — not from a notification or message thread.

What video quality can I download?

The available quality depends on the original video. HD and 4K options appear when the source video supports them. Some videos will only offer SD — this is set by Facebook based on the original upload, not by our tool.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Open GetFVid in your mobile browser, paste the link, and tap Download. On iPhone, use Safari and look for the download in your Files app. On Android, the file goes to your Downloads folder.

Is GetFVid safe to use?

GetFVid doesn't ask for your Facebook login or personal information. It processes publicly available video URLs — the same ones your browser already loads when you watch a video on Facebook. We don't store your links or downloaded files.

GetFVid is not affiliated with Meta or Facebook. This tool only works with publicly accessible content. Downloading videos for personal use is generally acceptable, but please respect the copyright and privacy of the original creators.
